What kind of results can I expect?

Many of our Tucson patients begin to see a noticeable improvement in the treated area after their third Sculptra® injection session. The results of this treatment develop gradually as collagen production is stimulated and the newly formed collagen develops. You will experience a gradual improvement in the appearance of the treated area that can last for up to two years. Individual results may vary.

How many treatments will I need?

Many patients are able to achieve maximum results from this injectable treatment with a series of three to four injection sessions. The number of treatments needed to achieve your desired results may vary from patient to patient depending on your goals for treatment and the severity of facial volume loss. During your consultation in our Tucson office, we will work with you to develop a customized treatment plan to help you achieve optimal results.

What are the potential side effects?

Common side effects may include minor bruising, swelling, itching, redness, and/or discomfort at or around the injection site. These side effects are temporary and should resolve on their own within one week of your injection session.

What is Sculptra® Aesthetic?

Sculptra® Aesthetic is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen – the most common protein in the body used to form the framework to support cells and tissue – that can last more than two years. It is made with a biocompatible, synthetic material called ploy-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to rebuild lost collagen through a series of treatments administered by a trained specialist. On average, two to three treatment sessions of 2 vials are needed over a few months.

Why is Collagen so important?

Collagen makes up nearly 80% of your skin, found in the middle layer called the dermis. It works together with elastin to give your skin the strength and ability to snap back into place when it is stretched. After the age of 25, collagen production begins to slow down, and your collagen gets broken down more quickly than it is produced. Over time, this will weaken the skin’s inner structure, which reduces the skin’s ability to maintain elasticity and moisture. What to expect after treatment?

1. Within the first 24 hours, swelling is common. This can be reduced with a cold pack or ice pack. Never apply ice directly to the skin, always wrap your cold pack or ice pack with a cloth before applying to the face for a few minutes at a time.
2. Massage the treated area(s) for five minutes, five times a day, for five days after treatment, as recommended by your physician.
3. After treatment, excessive sunlight and UV lamp exposure should be avoided until any initial swelling and redness disappears.
